The 6.5-hectare industrial area of Rasspe is located on the outskirts of the city of Solingen. It is the largest and most important site with commercial potential in the city. However, the thirteen buildings have been unused for years, most since 1998. It has been used extensively by photographers in recent years to take industrial photographs. The many applied graffiti works gave the buildings an impressive image, both inside and outside. There are a number of buildings on the site that are listed as monumental buildings.
As a part of the total demolition of the most of these thirteen properties, Hein Heun as been assigned to dismantle the buildings. Five of the thirteen buildings at the back of the future business park have now been demolished.
Despite the relative short period, great work has been executed by using mini cranes and bobcats with all accompanying tools. The dismantled buildings where delivered in consultation with the client and the local authorities of Solingen.
In the run-up to the work, various soil tests were executed to accurately locate the pollutants. By having a proper mapping of the location of the pollutants, the safety of our employees is guaranteed. In addition to the expected pollutants such as asbestos, old complexes, house garden and kitchen waste or by example refrigerators were found inside the buildings, which had been unused for years. Clear instructions have been drawn up by the local authorities to sort all waste materials or released materials by sort and type with a daily check. These instructions are the same as how we work according to the Recycle-Reduce-Reuse protocol we have drawn up.
Once the area at the rear is dismantled, further construction work will begin. Economic development assums that the year 2021 will be characterized by progressive work.
