The resuse and recycling of materials that are released from disassembly and demolition activities is becoming increasingly important. In 2020, Hein Heun Group created its own Recycle-Reduce-Reuse working protocol. According to this protocol, released materials can be sustainably reused, making cost reduction and efficient reuse of materials possible, but also limiting residual waste to a absolute minimum. This is a win-win situation for people, animals and the global environment and for the client there is also a higher profit percentage to be achieved from a financial part of view. Within Hein Heun Group, innovation and development are registered as core values and we always like to think along with our clients about innovative solutions to strengthen the circularity flow.
In collaboration with TÜV Nord Nederland and DagNL, Hein Heun Group has committed to set up the Sustainable Material Inventory (SMI) work process in addition to our Recycle-Reduce-Reuse work protocol. SMI is an integral inventory method. With this method, verious materials and (hazardous) substances such as chrome-6, PCBs and inonizing smoke detectors are inventoried. By making an inventory in accordance with the SMI process, the client gets a grip on the circularity flow within the project. The client also receives full insight into the disassembly method, the quality and the circular possibilities based on the R-ladder. With SMI we create a safer working environment for all employees involved in the project. All hazardous substances are mapped, including those for which ther is no legislation in the Netherlands yet.
The process starts with an inventory by an (external) certified Expert Inventory Materials (DMI). After the inventory, the DMI draws up an report in which all materials to be released are written down and specifically indicates how much of each raw material is amovated from the work to be carried out.
The report is the starting point for Hein Heun Group to see which materials can be removed reusably and which materials will be offered for recycling. Prior to the work to be carried out, it is assessed at which processor to the specific raw material is offered. Subsequently, during the circular disassembly work, all substances are separated according to the material type in order to enable reuse and recycling. All this under the supervision of an Expert Circular Supervisor (DCT) and carried out by an Expert Circular Remover (DCV).
Hein Heun Group is the first demolition company to be certified for this newly developed work process. In addition to the number of projects that we have already carried out, the Jumbo branch at Pieter Stastokerf in Amersfoort (NL) is the first branch that we have disassebled according to this working protocol and where, at the end of the project, we have submitted an report in which all deviations and adjustments to the initial inventory.
