In Germany, near Duisburg, there is a large salt factory of K+S Minerals. At a depth of approximately one kilometer, kilos of salt are extracted every day in a 35 km long tunnel system spread over 10 km surface. Hein Heun has been assigned to carry out various activities relating to disassembly and removal.
For this project, our expert team amovated a wall of 17 meters height and 36 meters wide, which was divided into different sections of masonry. The steel was so affected by the amount of salt that these activities had to be carried out. The steel separators have been removed and are being replaced by new ones. Only the existing uprights will be spared. Layer by layer we removed the bricks from the wall to always stamp and support the whole thing underneath, so that the surrounding construction elements were not damaged or put under unnecessary pressure.
Separate from this work, our expert sawing team have made diamond saw cuts in the roof area, to be able to place new construction elements for the new facade cladding.
The released bricks that can still be used for renovation work are palletised. The other released materials were circularly disposed in accordance with our Recycle-Reduce-Reuse protocol.
