On March 8th Hein Heun, together with one of our partners, supported the EOD (explosive removal service) in dismantling a V1 in Wilp. Due to this operation, approximately 600 homes were evacuated all day.

The explosive charge found in the V1 weighed no less than 935 kilos. This charge must be detonated in a controlled manner. Due to this enormous size, the load was cut into 8 parts by the EOD first. At a specially designated location, TD&R, part of the Hein Heun Group, assisted the EOD in detonating this cargo. A large amount of sand was first brought to the detonation site to ensure that the explosive charge could be buried and covered by our excavator. Then the load is detonated and finally the EOD checks whether all the buried material has actually been detonated.
