Saw job station Europapark Groningen

An urgent job for our client, the removal of two concrete walls for the purpose of creating an new train track towards an train wash station. Initially the project would take place next year, but the tracks of that station would be closed for 8 days for the installation of an rail tunnel. It would be more fitting to execute the assignment when the tracks where closed, so the project was brought forward.

What needed to be done is two concrete walls, one of which is 20m long and 35cm thick in total and the other wall 10m long and 50cm thick, must be removed. Because of the new train rails that needed to be put in that specific place, it was important that we saw as close to the floor as possible. We’ve drilled holes in the walls and after the walls where detached from the subfloor it was sawn in to blocks. Special lifing anchors where then added to each block, after which the blocks where removed one by one.

We received the assignment on Friday afternoon, after which the track would be closed the following week. With the question whether it would be possible to also remove the walls in that same week. So we didn’t have much time to organize everything; required materials, working tools, employees, railway passes, the required paperwork etc. And all of that in the middle of the construction holidays.

The track would open again on Saturday, so that was the absolute deadline for the project. The work started on Monday and was completed according to plan. The end result; a nice and clean location for a new train track, a satisfied client and an super proud team that this has been realized in such short notice.
