Gluing the baffle plates over the Amstelveen viaduct

For one of our clients we recently drilled and glued impact plates with dokens to an concrete deck of the viaduct. An impact plate is an transitional construction that is often used at bridges and viaducts to prevent the negative effects of after subsidence at the adjacent road. The doken is an thick iron pin that goes thrue the impact plate and the concrete deck and secures both plates. At the same time it ensures that the impact plate remains in plase during the use of the viaduct and other resistance.

The impact plates are placed by the client. The nose of the plates are placed on the concrete deck of the viaduct. The impact plates have prefabricated holes, through which we drill holes in the concrete deck with extra long drills. This first happens with diamond drilling, then we drill mechanically to destroy the remaining drill cores. The residual debris is sprayed clean by means of a spray lance connected to an compressor.

When all holes have been sprayed clean we will glue the dokens into the drilled holes, this is executed by our certified employees. When the glue has hardened, the client closes the prefab holes and finish it by pouring asphalt over the baffle plates.
