Hydraulic pile cracking Swifterbant (NL)

In Swifterbant (NL), our team from the infrastructural demolition department hydraulically cracked over several concrete piles. Pile cracking, also known as hydraulic pile-breaking, is the removal (unto an specified height) of concrete piles. These piles are cracked by a hydraulic head with chisels, which ensures that the concrete around the steel within the pile is crushed, without exerting lateral pressure on the piles. This project was challenging because most of the piles where in the water and the crushed concrete had to be prevented from ending up in the water. For this reason, custom-made pontoons with the necessary edge protection were installed around the piles to collect the released crushed concrete.

The released debris is taken to an authorized processor in accordance with our Recycle-Reduce-Reuse program to qualify for recycling.
